Slow Cooker Chicken And Dumplings

"We've streamlined the recipe for this slow-cooker chicken and dumplings recipe, while ensuring the chicken remains juicy while cooking in the soup. When the chicken is shredded to add back to the soup, you'll make a quick and easy dough for the dumplings. Everything finishes up in the slow cooker for a comfort dinner you can make on a weeknight or proudly serve to company at the holidays."  Comment from Southern Living

I've written about how I never got The Captain's recipe for his awesome chicken and dumplings and I loved it so much.  Now I'm on a mission to get lots of recipes so I can experiment and find the best one for me when I am ready to get back to serious cooking again.  So if you are a serious chicken and dumplings fan, there are lots of those types of recipes on my blog, just do a search on the search bar and in the labels.  Maybe I'll do a consolidation page soon.

Honey Garlic Chicken - Many Versions

There is nothing like the aroma of a meal cooking in the crock pot.  In my working days, I walked in the door from a hard day's work to the smell of a delicious meal ready to eat.  Be instantly de-stressed!

How about the combination of honey and garlic?  It is one of my favorite appetizers when I order Chinese takeout.  This chicken dish would be perfect with rice, steamed broccoli and a salad with rolls.

This year, I'm focusing on frugal cooking . . . lots of chicken. Another focus that goes along with frugal cooking is freezer cooking.  This meal would be perfect for two meals for two people . . . freeze half to enjoy another day later in the month! I love having a great selection of meals ready to go in the freezer for those busy or lazy days.

Slow Cooker Ribs - Many Versions

Pork ribs are one of my favorite things and I have not tried making them in the slow cooker.  I would love to try this method, so I was happy to find three versions and will post more if I find them.   We should always strive to find the best recipe and/or method to make our favorite foods.  More to come!

VERSION 1

"Slow
cooker ribs are fork-tender and meaty. A quick, homemade spice mix adds a smokiness that replicates the flavor the pork would get if it were in fact cooked on a grill. A bed of sliced onions perfumes the ribs nicely with a subtle onion flavor, while also keeping them moist during the long cook. Finally, BBQ sauce adds a slight sweetness and a little heat thanks to strong black pepper flavors."  Comment from Southern Living

Slow Cooker Barbecue Spareribs

"You don’t have to babysit a smoker all day to enjoy great ribs, thanks to this recipe. Here, meaty St. Louis-style ribs get a double layer of flavor from dry rub and barbecue sauce before being layered in a slow cooker and left to cook gently for three to six hours while you go about your life doing fun things."  Comment from Southern Living

"A potato galette combines the crispiness of a potato chip with the creaminess of mashed potatoes and will be a hit when served alongside a green vegetable, such as green bean casserole or a green salad. Leftovers, if there are any, reheat well. Pair with sausage or ham for breakfast or serve with a tossed salad for lunch.

Learn how to make a potato galette, and impress your family with this fantastic side dish at your next dinner."  Comment from Southern Living
