Orange Cookies

"These orange cookies are soft and tender with plenty of fresh orange flavor, thanks to both zest and juice in the dough, and finished with a spooned-on orange icing that sets beautifully on top.

A combination of butter and cream gives them a rich, bakery-style texture, while a touch of almond extract adds a little extra depth without sealing the spotlight from the citrus."  Comment from Bake or Break

Citrus pastries are among my favorites.  These orange cookies sound delicious and I need to make them.

Old-Fashioned Cabbage Rolls

"Our version of the traditional cabbage rolls borrows most heavily from the Polish style, which is tender cabbage leaves enveloping a savory mixture of meat, pork, and rice. But to make it Southern (because that's what we do), we've spiced up the tomato sauce with a bit of Creole seasoning. We've also added body and flavor to the tomato sauce with the holy trinity, a mixture of bell pepper, onion, and celery."  Comment from Southern Living

Cabbage rolls are one of those meals I have never had and would love to make.  I like the combination of classic and creole.

Crockpot Chili

"This chili isn’t your typical “dump and forget it” crockpot recipe like recipe like most on my blog.  It’s better because it’s slow cooked.

Slow cooking is the first secret to award-winning chili. It blends flavors, tenderizes beans and veggies, and makes the meat juicy and tender.

The second secret is browning first. Sautéing the veggies and browning the beef before adding them to the crockpot adds layers of flavor."  Comment from Chelsea's Messy Apron

Everything about this recipe gets my attention.  Slow cooking is becoming one of my favorite ways of cooking, I love the ingredients and I'm currently in search of a good chili recipe.  I'll let you know when I find it, but this is the first one to get my attention.

Smothered Pork Chops in Oven

"When it comes to comfort food only a few dishes hit the mark quite like these oven-baked smothered pork chops. This recipe turns out subtly seasoned chops nestled in a rich, creamy sauce that’s just begging to be mopped up with a slice of bread or a forkful of mashed potatoes. And the best part? It all comes together in one pan. That means less cleanup and more time to savor every delicious bite."  Comment from Taste of Home

These pork chops look delicious.

The potatoes in the phone look delicious and I also like the items in the recipe.  Looks like a winner!

Chicken Parmesan Casserole

"This Chicken Parmesan casserole recipe gives big Midwestern hot dish vibes (even without the Tater Tots). It’ll soon be one of your favorite casserole recipes for easy weeknight meals or potluck suppers."  Comment from Taste of Home

Recipe sounds delicious!

Tater Tot Casserole

"Like all of our best casseroles, you already probably have the key ingredients in your kitchen. A true hot dish usually incorporates corn or another simple vegetable, which you can easily add to this meaty Tater Tot casserole. But let’s be honest, all Tater Tot recipes worth their salt are all about those tots! The casserole is finished with a heavy hand of cheddar cheese, which melts over everything, creating a cheese-smothered situation that is not to be missed."  Comment from Taste of Home

Looking forward to having my first tater tot casserole

Chimichangas

"You know what’s better than a burrito? A deep-fried burrito. The chimichanga is a staple of southwestern and Tex-Mex cuisine that’s similar to a burrito, with various fillings wrapped inside a tortilla then fried until golden brown. They taste best smothered with salsa, guacamole and sour cream, topped with cheese and lettuce, and served with rice and beans. This chimichanga recipe features onions, tomatoes, and green chiles in the filling, plus diced potatoes for some starchy goodness. If you prefer a more traditional option, use refried beans."  Comment from Taste of Home

Chimichangas are my very favorite mexican meal.  I'm so happy to have a recipe I can make at home.

Country Chicken and Gravy

"Here's a lightened-up take on the classic southern comfort-food dish: chicken and gravy. This recipe has been a hit at our house since the first time we tried it!" Comment from Ruth Helmuth, Abbeville, South Carolina, recipe creator for Taste of Home

This is apparently a healthier version of country chicken and gravy.  I guess that is why there are no mashed potatoes in the photo.  I'll try it!

Sausage Potato Skillet

Comment from Taste of Home

"Put this recipe right up there with mac and cheese, spaghetti and meatballs, or a creamy potato soup, because this sausage and potato skillet recipe is 100% a comfort food. You’ll also be comforted to know that it’s quite easy to make—even a novice cook shouldn’t be the least bit intimidated."  Comment from Taste of Home

This meal takes me back to my childhood.  My nana would bake it in the oven, guess you could call it a sheet pan meal, same ingredients.  I make this dish in a skillet like the recipe.  My contribution to this recipe post is that I love to use poblano peppers and mushrooms.  The peppers have a wonderful spicy taste that is not hot.  That is my preference.  Use what you love.

Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Slow Cooker Poblano Pork Loin

"We love seasonal poblano peppers, so this slow-cooker pork loin with many southwestern seasonings is a family favorite. It can be served in a variety of ways too. It’s fantastic with rice and beans, or in a taco with hot sauce.  Comment from Johnna Johnson, Scottsdale, Arizona, recipe creator for Taste of Home

This recipe has ingredients I love, especially the spiciness of poblano peppers that works so well with pork. Can't wait to try the slow cooker with this meal.

"Sometimes, a casserole is more than just a casserole; it’s Chicken Divan. This chicken Divan recipe is decadent, delicious and requires very little prep time, thanks to some already-prepared ingredients such as condensed chicken soup, cooked chicken and cooked rice. Even the broccoli is already cut. Easy broccoleasy."  Comment from Taste of Home

Quick, easy, use leftovers makes a good combination and I love all the ingredients.

Potato Croquettes

"These are what I make when I’ve got leftover mashed potatoes (or an excuse to make mashed potatoes just to fry them). They’re loaded with bacon, stuffed with cheddar and provolone, and fried to golden perfection. Crispy shell, gooey middle, the kind of snack that disappears before you’ve even sat down. And yes, I’ve absolutely eaten them cold straight from the fridge."  Comment from Jo Cooks

Love this recipe!  Not only does it use leftovers, but I love all the ingredients and they sound delicious.
